Silver Bells, Silver Bells

6 Sep 2012
Silver bells, silver bells, it's Christmas time in the city... The next time I want to hear this song, is with 100 and more less fortunate children from all over the world.

Why?

smoky mountain kids

Some of them sleep on the open streets on Christmas eve; some of them sleep hungry.

Some of them go back to school barefoot; some of them wear worn flip-flops.

Lots of them don’t have school bags; all of them have a hard time getting pencils, papers and pens for school.

Lot’s of them play little and work more, even as young as age of four.

street kids

And this Christmas, none of them may open a Christmas gift.

So I beg you, help me bring the gifts to them: toys, personal care, new clothes, flip-flops, shoes, school materials;

And oh, the best food they'd ever have throughout the year, games and a photoshot with Santa

Help me bring them the ideal childhood you had once, or your children had/are having... help me gather 100 Happy Smiles and more!

Help me celebrate Christmas with them.  Sponsor my journey.  I am seeking for (please click corresponding sponsorship level to help):

100 Happy Smile 2012 is my pioneer project, and is currently a personal cause. The event will happen in my hometown Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines.  Why this place? Because this is where I grew up, and I am very much familiar how and where less fortunate children live.  But this is just my first stop.  Next will be in another part of the world including the U.S., depending on the availability of funds.

Dates and Details of Operation:

After hiring local staff to gather 100 less fortunate children and research the common location of street kids in the city, the following dates of actual activities will be:

December 24th:  We will drive around Cagayan de Oro city where a volume of street kids and those working juveniles (less than 16 years old) can be found and distribute presents and packages of foods to them.  We will give them a ride back home if needed be to join their family on Christmas eve to share the foods and some of the presents delivered to them.  In the Philippines, Christmas eve is formally celebrated on the night of December 24th.

December 25: Another 100 less fortunate children will be gathered a week before December 25.  We will rent a space that would cater 100 children and about 10 other staff and volunteers.  The staff/volunteers will include children organizers, entertainers, videographers and photographers. The children will receive gifts, clothes, etc.  Picture a children's Christmas party with games, fun foods (they ever seldom try or never had because they could not afford) and a photoshot with Santa.  Every kid will have something to bring to their family as well on this day.

This is a dream come true for me, an unforgettable experience to these kids...

I need your help to make this dream that I have always dreamt of come true.  Yes, it is nice to receive a gift, but the greatest gift of all is being able to give.

If enough fund is gathered, I would like to establish a station here in the U.S that would continue catering the project 100 Happy Smiles touching the lives of less fortunate children from the U.S. to the rest of the world.

Important:  If you could send your sponsorship fund before November 2012 starts, this will help me a lot to arrange for my travel documents in advance, and hire and collaborate with corresponding staff  and volunteers in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines who will be involved in the operation of this project, as well as arrange in advance any vehicles and some equipment needed in the area to mobilize this project.

Mega, Median and Cookie sponsors will receive a copy of video documentary, an official 100 Happy Smiles 18"x24" photo canvas, and my book about this journey.  These copies will be sent on year 2013 (no definite month as of the moment).

Tidbits and Anonymous sponsors will receive 5 (five) official copies of 100 Happy Smiles postcard that they could use to share with their friends and families.
