Why did you kiss the devil, Mama?
Why did you tell the rest to kiss the same?
Why did I not kiss the devil, Mama?
Why, because I see he is a devil, Mama.

How did you listen to the devil’s lure, mama?
How does temptation taste, mama?
I nagged at the devil to stop this disgrace,
But then you told me, “Keep it to yourself, please!”

Why did you praise the devil’s works, Mama?
He is choking those who kissed him and kiss him not.
Now you’re afraid he will take my soul, Mama
Because my broken heart is breaking his dreadful heart.
